Eunice
Eunice W.Kamotho is a 66 years old woman who has chosen to dedicate herself to the service of others and children in need especially.
Her work has been commended by both Kenya's second president and 3rd President (current), giving Eunice two awards "OGW-Order of the Golden Warrior" and HSC "Head of State Commendation" respectively.
Eunice founded in 1997 Upendo Children Rehabilitation Centre, because she sympathised with orphans particularly afflicted with HIV/AIDS whose basic needs nobody had met. A group of like minded people joined hands and helped to provide these orphaned/destitute children with food, clothing, medication, education as well as counselling.
Day after day, year after year, with stamina and courage, she has not only been dedicated to caring for the basic needs of these children but also to their education which is the seed for a better future, not just for them, but for Kenya as well.
Unfortunately for the last four years Eunice has suffered from a nerve problem which makes it difficult for her to walk without a walker and also causes her to stammer when talking.
Although she is not intellectually affected, these handicaps have hampered her ability to effectively fundraise locally.
Again, despite unfavorable circumstances, she demonstrates courage, her will is unbreakable, and she keeps going !
Eunice is still in-charge of the daily running of the institution.
The institution includes ::
- An Orphan school with 40 girls between 4 and 15.
- A nursery and a primary school for 87 children from poor families ( boys and girls)
Thanks to this remarkable lady, Upendo pupils lead academically in the division and are in the top ten in the district of 63 primary schools !
So now, we need to help her to help others !
We need to help this extraordinary woman (Golden Warrior of Love) to keep the fire of her vision alive!
